Join us on Saturday before the choir’s first public performance for a collective improvisation workshop open to all levels of singing. The workshop starts at 12.30pm at the Vortex (Dalston, N16) for one hour of gentle vocal exercises and artistic exploration.
In this taster workshop with Jenni and members of TIC, we will look at ways we have worked in rehearsal in preparation for the afternoon concert.
We’ll learn to establish relaxation, with playful and internal connection with yourself and others. The voice can start from a murmur or a sigh, with the body stretching open and tightening up to release tension. We’ll develop playful interactions through games and energy sensing.
We’ll then move into learning some signals and how to participate in a directed improvisation. Following Jenni’s conducting, we will explore the way different layers of music can work together and each person is both part of the chorus and open to improvise a solo or a duet.
